ACC Providers - Did you know?
As Primary Health Practitioners, Osteopaths are 'Registered ACC Treatment Providers'. This means you can register your accident with us (which we do on-line). We can also refer you on ACC (and for non-ACC injuries) for x-ray and ultrasound imaging.
Pain Education - acute & chronic
The understanding of pain - the 'how and why' - is vital to it's successful resolution. Pain education/learning is central to all of our interventions.
Soft Tissue Techniques
These gentle and safe techniques are applied to the musculoskeletal area which is interrupting normal physiological functioning and involved in causing pain and/or stiffness.
Joint Articulation and Manipulation
When a joint is restricted or unable to move through it's normal range of motion, it can create problems. This causes changes to local and/or distant structures, which may result in pain, and dysfunction - you just can't comfortably do what you want to. By correcting this, via joint articulation and/or manipulation, normal function can be restored leading to a decrease in pain and subsequent increase in function and daily activities.
Daily prolonged work related postures, pain avoidance &/or habitual movement patterns may lead to acute &/or chronic pain and discomfort. Identification and correction of these allows us to work with you to reverse these pain-causing habits via education, osteopathic treatment and prescribed rehabilitative exercises. The aim is to empower you to help yourself.
If required, these will be tailor-made to you. Options range from extensive individualised gym programs; swiss ball routines; specific regional strengthening/stretching exercises or just teaching you how to perform daily activities optimally. The aim is to improve your ability to do what you want, when you want AND to prevent re-occurence.
Workplace Ergonomic Assessments
We offer onsite ergonomic workplace assessments. These are carried out at your workplace. The aim is to make the workplace fit you, NOT you fit the workplace. Any activity performed for 40+ hours per week, will have an impact on musculoskeletal health. Addressing this is helpful in the long term.
