Scott Pender BappSc (Human Biology), M.Ost
Scott Pender, interestingly, was drawn towards osteopathy after having been a patient of clinic director Lawrence Cartmell.
“I was amazed at how much easier my own healing became after having been empowered with an easy to understand anatomical, physiological and functional description of my issue. Therefore I had a mental projection of how my body might react to both treatment and rehabilitative exercises and importantly, why I was doing them. A successful return to activities of which I enjoyed had me hooked on this wonderful treatment modality”.
Having left a successful 12 year career in IT to pursue his new osteopathic career, Scott graduated from the Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Biology and a Master of Osteopathy before registering with the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand.
Scott has always enjoyed playing various sports such as cricket, rugby, martial arts and currently enjoys a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic fitness training and occasional tramping.
Scott is a Level II Certified MovNat (Natural Movement) coach. Natural Movement breaks down our normal inherent human movement patterns which are stored in our DNA - Mobility skills: e.g. ground movement progressions, crawling, walking, running, jumping, climbing, balancing and Manipulative skills: e.g. throwing, catching, lifting. These fundamental movement patterns can be broken down and retaught as more efficient movement patterns and also turned into combinations and used for exercise routines - bringing the "play" back into exercise!
Scott is actively pursuing continued development within the exciting fields of osteopathy and rehabilitation.
